The Greater Bay Area, comprising Hong Kong, Macau, and nine major cities in Guangdong Province (including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhaoqing, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, and Jiangmen), is one of the most vibrant and economically dynamic regions in China. It holds significant strategic importance within the national development framework and has been a major decision by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, with active involvement and support from General Secretary Xi Jinping. The construction of the Greater Bay Area aims to deepen exchanges and cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong-Macau, enhance their competitiveness, and contribute to long-term prosperity and stability.
On September 1, 2019, at 7:00 am, the Central Radio and Television Station launched "The Voice of the Greater Bay Area." As China's first national radio station specifically targeting the Greater Bay Area, the programs are primarily broadcasted in Cantonese, with additional content in Hakka and Teochew dialects. The recording studio is equipped with a production room and control room. The small broadcast rooms typically have a permissible noise level of NR20. However, considering the characteristics of live broadcasting and the practical circumstances, controlling the noise from the air conditioning system can be challenging. Additionally, the limited soundproofing effect of the glass curtain wall necessitates relaxing the baseline noise level in the broadcasting room to no worse than NR30. To achieve the highest recording acoustic standards, the recording studio's walls are made of grooved panels and perforated panels with a magnesium oxide base material. The ceiling area is fitted with micro-perforated panels and fiberglass ceiling panels, complemented by Class A fire-rated soundproof doors.
To optimize the acoustic performance, Class A sound-absorbing soft panels are utilized on both sides of the control room walls. The ceiling is fitted with damping sound panels, and all soundproofing and sound-absorbing layers are supplemented with 64K glass wool to enhance absorption. With these measures, the recording studio achieves the highest standard in recording acoustic quality.
"The Voice of the Greater Bay Area" plays a crucial role in promoting communication and cooperation within the Greater Bay Area. By offering programs in various local dialects, the radio station caters to the linguistic diversity of the region, fostering a sense of community and identity. The meticulous attention to acoustic design in the recording studio ensures the production of high-quality and clear broadcasts, delivering the voice of the Greater Bay Area to its people and beyond. As the region continues to develop and contribute to China's comprehensive opening-up strategy and the "One Country, Two Systems" framework, the radio station remains an essential medium for information dissemination and cultural exchange.
