Located in the northeastern corner of Nanshan Houhai Central Area and adjacent to Hong Kong, the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center spans an impressive area of approximately 720 meters in length and 430 meters in width. With a total land area of 300,000 square meters and a construction area of 335,000 square meters, this state-of-the-art facility represents a significant investment of approximately 2.3 billion yuan. It includes a sports stadium, sports arena, swimming pool, athlete reception center, public fitness facilities, and commercial amenities. The center was jointly completed by Beijing Institute of Architectural Design and Beijing Institute of Architectural Design Co., Ltd.
At the heart of the sports center lies the basketball venue, which features a cutting-edge solution to address acoustic challenges – the matrix-style spatial sound absorption panels. Designed with a three-dimensional structure, these matrix sound absorption panels offer an improvement over traditional two-dimensional counterparts by increasing the sound absorption area and enhancing the sound absorption coefficient. This scientifically engineered design effectively improves the reverberation time within the venue, ensuring optimal acoustic conditions for players and spectators.
Taking into consideration construction standards and installation timelines, a user-friendly installation approach was employed for the structural framework. The use of easy-to-install hanging systems minimizes construction and installation time, thereby reducing costs while meeting aesthetic requirements.
