Situated within the captivating Sand Dunes Scenic Area of Zhongwei, Ningxia, the Star Theater stands as a real-life shooting location for the renowned TV variety show "Where Are We Going, Dad?" The theater's architectural marvel takes the form of a 60-meter diameter semi-spherical inflatable structure, encircled by a 3.15-meter high glass curtain wall. Soaring to a total height of approximately 25.5 meters, with a voluminous capacity of 56,520m³, and accommodating 592 seats, each averaging 95.5m³ per seat, this grand creation will soon become a radiant pearl amid the desert landscape.
Acoustic Challenges and Special Design:
Located amidst the arid desert, the Star Theater presented unique construction challenges. With no solid walls, the interior is composed of modular inflatable structures. Furthermore, the theater's exposed position in the harsh natural environment, characterized by substantial temperature fluctuations between day and night, posed significant hurdles in acoustic design and implementation.
Customized Acoustic Solution:
To meet the strict construction timeline, over three thousand square meters of acoustic materials were customized and produced within a week. These acoustic materials predominantly featured wideband absorption materials tailored to the project's specific needs, complemented by other soundproofing and damping materials.
Efficient Construction and Quality Assurance:
In just over a month, the entire process - from acoustic material production and transportation to the acoustic decoration - was efficiently accomplished. Following the construction, the theater underwent professional acoustic testing, and all parameters conformed to national standards.
