
In the heart of Guangzhou's Nansha district, the Nansha International Convention Center boasts a conference hall with a distinctive irregular geometric layout. With a rectangular cross-section, the hall's interior spans 50m in length, reaching a height of 7.56m from the decorated floor to the ceiling. Comprising three independent spaces created by partitions, the total effective volume of the entire hall is 7650m³, with a surface area of 3130㎡.
The primary function of this versatile hall is to host conferences, accommodating additional events such as lectures and forum discussions. To ensure undisturbed functionality, designers implemented a tailored acoustic design plan to meet the specific needs of the conference hall. Tiange Acoustics provided a range of acoustic materials, including absorption cotton packs, aluminum square perforated absorption panels, Class A slotted absorption panels, and ultra-high acoustic movable partitions.
In line with the original decorative scheme, decorative aluminum square perforated panels were chosen for the ceiling. However, recognizing the limitations of metal materials in acoustic absorption, 50mm thick absorption cotton packs were strategically placed above the aluminum square perforated ceiling, acting as the primary absorption material to control the hall's reverberation time.
For the acoustic treatment of the walls, slotted absorption structures were selected, significantly reducing echoes and preventing issues such as flutter echoes and whistling. The slotted absorption structures consisted of slotted absorption panels filled with 50mm thick absorption cotton, creating a cavity of at least 50mm.
Given the hall's multifunctional nature and the need for clear speech intelligibility, the space was divided into three independent areas using partitions. Two sets of partitions were employed, featuring one side with a wooden finish and the other side with polyester fiber absorption panels, aligning with the respective areas of the space to meet acoustic requirements.
At the Nansha International Convention Center, meticulous acoustic design has transformed irregular geometry into a harmonious space, ensuring optimal sound quality for a diverse range of events and gatherings.
