Spanning 79,200 square meters with a total built area of 11,300 square meters, this rectangular-shaped venue accommodates 3,000 spectators. Primarily designed for sporting events, it also caters to sports entertainment, conferences, and other functions, serving as a vital hub for sports events and cultural activities in Xiuyan County.
Ensuring excellent sound quality is essential for the sports arena, as clear audio is crucial for optimal usage of the facility. The strategic placement of acoustic materials is the most effective method to improve the venue's sound quality, combining architectural acoustics with interior design to achieve a balance between aesthetics and functionality.
This solution incorporates architectural acoustics into the design, employing rigorous calculations to determine the selection, layout, and installation of acoustic decorative materials. By controlling the reverberation time within the space, it provides a scientific and effective basis for spatial design and construction processes.
Ceiling Solution: The requirements for the sports arena's usage and viewing necessitate a minimum ceiling height that is not too low, resulting in a larger volume and longer reverberation time. Often, to save on ceiling costs and reduce the load on the ceiling structure, exposed grid systems are employed. However, without a comprehensive suspended ceiling, more acoustic materials are required to achieve the same reverberation time. Therefore, the acoustic treatment primarily focuses on utilizing highly efficient absorption materials. The design proposes the use of suspended acoustic panels, known for their strong sound absorption properties, hanging 1 meter below the ceiling steel frame, covering an area of 1800 square meters.
Wall Solution: With the large volume of the sports arena and the possibility of partial audience absence, the percentage of audience absorption is relatively small. To control the reverberation time, a significant amount of absorption materials or structures are necessary. Additionally, due to factors such as raised seating and large window areas on the walls, the available surface area for acoustic treatment is limited. Therefore, it is crucial to maximize the use of wall surfaces for sound absorption. The design suggests the implementation of slotted aluminum absorption structures on the walls, covering an area of 4000 square meters. These structures will be filled with sound-absorbing cotton with a thickness of at least 50mm, leaving a cavity of at least 100mm.
With these thoughtful acoustic solutions, the Xiuyan County Sports Arena ensures an immersive and acoustically optimized environment for sporting events, entertainment, and conferences, enhancing both the spectator experience and the overall functionality of the venue.
