Acoustic Brilliance: Transforming Yingyuan School Auditorium for Unforgettable Events

Embarking on a new project at Yingyuan School Auditorium, featuring a small stage within its versatile confines, this medium-sized multi-functional venue boasts an effective volume of approximately 5910m³, a total effective area of around 2700m², and a height of 10.5m. With a projected seating capacity of 1004, and a stage measuring 27.3m in length and 5.9m in depth, this space is designed to host conferences and artistic performances. To ensure optimal functionality, the acoustic environment is engineered to meet standard speech intelligibility, guaranteeing a superb listening experience.
In pursuit of impeccable acoustics, the venue demands not only control over reverberation time but also the elimination of acoustic flaws such as flutter echoes, aiming for a clear and evenly distributed sound field within the auditorium. Considering the volumetric size of 5200m³, equating to a generous 5.18m³ per seat, and the venue's dual-purpose nature for both artistic performances and conferences, the optimal mid-frequency reverberation time is targeted at approximately 1.1 seconds. Following acoustic treatment, the stage achieves the design goal of a 1.1-second reverberation time in the mid-frequency range of 500-1000Hz.
To judiciously manage reverberation time, eliminate inherent architectural acoustic deficiencies, and enhance early reflections in the audience seating area, a comprehensive arrangement of various acoustic materials is deployed. Rigorous control over the form, specifications, installation angles, and methods is maintained for acoustic decoration materials. The ceiling features reflective treatment with GRG material of at least 20mm thickness, while the walls are adorned with red glass perforated absorption structures. The stage floor is equipped with a dedicated 22mm thick wooden flooring, and the audience area is laid with a 3mm thick rubber floor for optimal acoustic performance.
