Acoustic Brilliance: Transforming HuiShang Vocational and Technical College's Arts and Sports Center

HuiShang Vocational and Technical College's newly constructed multi-purpose sports arena within the Arts and Sports Center is a testament to versatility and functionality. Housing two standard basketball courts and spanning an impressive 1680 square meters, this facility was designed to accommodate a range of activities, with basketball games taking center stage while also accommodating sports training, meetings, school events, and more.
With a rectangular layout, the venue stretches 48.3 meters in length, boasts a maximum height of 12.6 meters, and a minimum height of 11.2 meters, resulting in a voluminous space of 21,820 cubic meters. The roof structure combines a truss framework with colorful steel roofing, and the interior features no fixed seating, with a retractable stage for added flexibility.
Given the facility's dual purpose of hosting basketball games and small-scale performances, acoustic quality played a critical role. To ensure pristine sound quality, the venue needed to be free from excessive reverberation and provide a tranquil acoustic environment when required for performances. Thus, a meticulous architectural acoustic design was imperative to meet the facility's diverse needs.
Leveraging existing data, extensive engineering expertise, CAD floor plans, and 3D models of the Arts and Sports Center, our team conducted a comprehensive acoustic analysis of the venue's volume, shape, and other parameters. This analysis led to the development of a comprehensive acoustic design solution tailored to meet the center's specific requirements.
